Who knew...?

Food...what is it? Seems like a simple question doesn't it? The most general definition I can think of is anything that is edible, but that includes things like my girlfriend's favorite candy...Twizzlers. We can all assume that Twizzlers ARE NOT food. So we'll need a better definition.

Wikipedia states, "Food is any substance, composed of carbohydrates, water, fats and/or proteins, that is either eaten or drunk by any animal, including humans, for nutrition or pleasure." Ok so you could put carbs, fat, and proteins in a pill and eat it for "nutrition" and according to this definition it would be called "food". WHAT?!? I checked other online sources and they all pretty much say the same thing, so that does us no good.

Looking at this from another angle we'll want a rule that is general enough that it will cover all the "foods" we will come across during the week and allow us to use some common sense when we ask the question: "Is this food?" Stay tuned for our post on Sunday for the official kickoff of the Great Food Experiment and our inititial definition of food. Thank you everyone for your support, we are very appreciative.
