So Fresh & So Yum YUM! + Rule 31

This week's past rule was a piece of cake. Sadly, it's almost too boring to write about. And I have no pictures. I think this boring-ness is a positive thing, however, because it means that following all the previous food rules has helped us to eat better without even really having to focus on it. We lived off of our CSA fruit and veggie bin, the 3 (I repeat 3!) cartons of fresh farm eggs that Ryan brought home from his friend at work, and made our own pasta and soups. The only question was the flour. We buy the flour that says it is organic but I am not sure where it comes from.

Next week we are moving on to Rule #31: Eat wild foods when you can. When I read this all I can think about are expensive mushrooms. After discussing with Ryan we have decided we can get wild fish and wild elk. Any other ideas???? Help!

  1. Great work on rule #30! Good luck with the next one, winter is not exactly the ideal season for wild and foraged food. I am somewhat stuck for ideas but some salmon and some seafood and still wild. I wouldn't trust myself to forage for mushrooms (not that it is the right time of year).

I don't know if foraged greens like dandelion or miner's lettuce are available yet or where you would buy them. How about nettles? Are you actually going to go foraging at some point? I am kind of giggling at the thought of having to find all of one's food...not even growing it yourself. Is it crazy that the concept seems so foreign to me? Perhaps watching one of those survival shows with Bear Grylls would help ;)

At least there is always wild rice! (Haha, I do know that this type of wild is not what he means).

Oh my, I do not envy this particular rule!
