Well, the sickness is mostly gone aside from my violent cough. What I'm really not looking forward to is the dentist tomorrow morning. Having to keep my mouth open and attempt not to cough when I get that certain tickle may prove to be torturous.
OKAY, let's get to the food talk! I ate a lot of avocados this week. I was averaging one per day. I'm not sure why but we had them and so I ate them. Not eating any form of sweetener in the top three ingredients was not necessarily a challenge, more like a "oh man, I'm craving (fill in the blank) but I can't eat it" type of situation. This rule also did not prevent me from eating unhealthy food like some of the past rules. For example, I could have had a tater tot, but I opted not to after considering "to tot or not" for several minutes. Several food highlights this week including drinking a $50 bottle of wine that Ryan bought on sale for $11 (go to Grocery Outlet!). And then we can't forget mother's day when Ryan and I cooked my mom a shish kabob feast. I will post pictures when I get around to it.....or, if you see me on a regular basis you will get to see me eating kabob leftovers in person for the next several years.
This next week makes me shiver in my boots (that is supposed to be an expression for scared). Rule #6: Avoid food products that contain more than five ingredients. Luckily, this does not include recipes we make ourselves. Home-cooked items can include as many ingredients as we want, but the ingredients we put into our recipe must not have more than five ingredients, if that makes sense. This will help us cut down on highly-processed food. It is also my birthday week so even though Michael Pollan talks smack about Haagendaz Five Ingredient Ice Cream, I am excited to have some with my homemade birthday cake (wink wink Mom)!
